6.2 Procedures of practicum

Procedures of practicum

The teaching procedures at Alicia National High School began with my initial observation of the school environment, followed by my attendance in five classes within a single day. I was allocated four days to observe ninth-grade classes, specifically across five sections focused on the Physics subject. This experience allowed me to learn effective teaching methods and classroom management techniques. It was essential for me to be both creative and innovative, as well as to provide motivation at the start of each lesson, ensuring that my approach was aligned with the established lesson plan. The teaching procedures at the Philippine Normal University Institute of Teaching and Learning closely resemble those I encountered during my practicum at Alicia National High School. Adhering to these teaching procedures is crucial for developing a comprehensive lesson plan.

The following outlines the procedure I will employ for teaching my students:

1. Elicit (Review the previous lesson or introduce the new lesson)
2. Engage (Establish the lesson's purpose and present examples related to the new content)
3. Explore (Discuss new concepts and practice newly acquired skills)
4. Explain (Facilitate mastery, leading to formative assessment)
5. Elaborate (Identify practical applications of concepts and skills in everyday life, and make generalizations and abstractions regarding the lesson)
6. Evaluate (Assess student learning)
7. Extend (Provide additional activities for application or remediation)
